Valencia Basket said goodbye to La Fonteta with one final victory on an unforgettable afternoon

Fonteta Farewell

Miguel Ángel Polo

Valencia Basket officially closed a 38-year chapter at La Fonteta on an afternoon filled with emotion, nostalgia, fun moments, solidarity (as all proceeds from ticket sales were donated to those affected by the DANA disaster on October 29, through the Felisa Foundation and with the support of the Cancha Solidaria Endesa project), and more than a few tears from the 5,106 attendees who didn’t want to miss this tribute event to what has been our home for nearly four decades. As the lyrics of the new anthem say—performed live for the first time by La Fúmiga before the match between Valencia Basket and Spanish legends—the people of La Fonteta “are full of laughter and tears.”

A rollercoaster of emotions that perfectly reflects everything we’ve experienced in a venue that had to grow to accommodate an ever-expanding group of passionate basketball fans. From those who came after the first season in Mislata, to those who got hooked when the team earned its first promotion to the ACB, to those who witnessed the first title won on this court wearing the orange jersey. And those who arrived later, forcing the club to bring in extra chairs from anywhere possible so the whole Family could be together. Filling the space of those we've lost along this 38-year journey—who were remembered in one of the most touching moments of an emotionally charged afternoon.

During this final farewell to La Fonteta, there were countless hugs—not of goodbye, but of wishing each other a good summer until we meet again in October. This time, in our brand-new home at Roig Arena.
